Cornerstones


Each member of the Eastern Ontario Professional Staff Development Network believes and advocates strongly that:
  1. Continuous professional development and training is necessary to improve student learning;

  2. Collaborative linkages among educational agencies are beneficial;

  3. Educators must have many opportunities to discuss what they do and how they do it with members of the profession;

  4. Networking is the most effective and efficient strategy for delivering services;

  5. Member accept the responsibility to cooperate fully and participate actively;

  6. High quality services and development programs can be planned collaboratively and delivered efficiently across the region;

  7. Local leaders have many good ideas to share and will become even more effective by interacting with others;

Professional development needs to be tailored to the diverse needs of educators in the region

Our Intentions


TO ACHIEVE THE MISSION, THE MEMBERS WILL:
  1. ENSURE the delivery of a selective variety of high quality services annually on a cost recovery basis;

  2. LOCATE these services in suitable facilities as close as possible to where the prospective participants live; CONTINUE to serve the newly expanded Boards through geographic representation;

  3. BUILD, SUPPORT AND MAINTAIN a flexible infrastructure of coordinating committees to expedite the delivery of the services requested;

  4. PROVIDE financial support annually for a central office and clerical support on a pro-rated basis according to the student size of each sponsor; (consider pro-rating based on staff population rather than student pop.)

  5. ENCOURAGE AND ASSIST local leaders to perform various leadership, coordinating and supporting functions throughout the region according to the principles of equity and reciprocity;

  6. SURVEY regularly and RESPOND quickly to the needs of the various client groups in accordance with local, regional, and provincial priorities;

  7. ESTABLISH, MAINTAIN, STRENGTHEN and BROADEN partnerships with each other and with other educational agencies;

  8. EXCHANGE information about locally organized activites and invite others to participate on a cost sharing basis;

  9. PROVIDE a regional voice on educational issues and INITIATE problem solving strategies where required;

  10. FOSTER and SUPPORT the best instructional and leadership practices that are supported by research and experience.

  11. Regularly EVALUATE Network activity to ensure that it meets quality standards.

  12. INITIATE action research in conjunction with partners.
