Cornerstones
Each member of the Eastern Ontario Professional Staff Development Network believes
and advocates strongly that:
- Continuous
professional development and training is necessary
to improve student learning;
- Collaborative
linkages among educational agencies are beneficial;
- Educators
must have many opportunities to discuss what they do
and how they do it with members of the profession;
- Networking
is the most effective and efficient strategy for delivering
services;
- Member
accept the responsibility to cooperate fully and participate
actively;
- High
quality services and development programs can be planned
collaboratively and delivered efficiently across the
region;
- Local
leaders have many good ideas to share and will become
even more effective by interacting with others;
Professional
development needs to be tailored to the diverse needs
of educators in the region
Our
Intentions
TO
ACHIEVE THE MISSION, THE MEMBERS WILL:
- ENSURE
the delivery of a selective variety of high quality services
annually on a cost recovery
basis;
- LOCATE
these services in suitable facilities as close as possible
to where the prospective participants
live; CONTINUE to serve the newly expanded Boards through
geographic representation;
- BUILD,
SUPPORT AND MAINTAIN a flexible infrastructure of coordinating
committees to
expedite the delivery of the services requested;
- PROVIDE
financial support annually for a central office and clerical
support on a pro-rated
basis according to the student size of each sponsor; (consider
pro-rating based on staff population rather than student
pop.)
- ENCOURAGE
AND ASSIST local leaders to perform various leadership,
coordinating and supporting
functions throughout the region according to the principles
of equity and reciprocity;
- SURVEY
regularly and RESPOND quickly to the needs of the various
client groups in accordance
with local, regional, and provincial priorities;
- ESTABLISH,
MAINTAIN, STRENGTHEN and BROADEN partnerships with each
other and
with other educational agencies;
- EXCHANGE
information about locally organized activites and invite
others to participate on
a cost sharing basis;
- PROVIDE
a regional voice on educational issues and INITIATE problem
solving strategies where
required;
- FOSTER
and SUPPORT the best instructional and leadership practices
that are supported
by research and experience.
- Regularly
EVALUATE Network activity to ensure that it meets quality
standards.
- INITIATE
action research in conjunction with partners.
